Nielsen 4 Jump-in

Due to family reason, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider had to cancel his appearance at a few hours notice, which meant that Laurent had to jump-in for the dress rehearsal and the subscription concert on Thursday 14 of December 2023.

The program opened with the world premiere of Bechara El Khoury’s Poem for Horn “Nach Garmisch”, featuring Solo-horn Guillaume Tétu. Also a last minute jump-in was pianist Marie-Ange Nguci who, after cancellation from Maria João Pires and Rafal Blechaz, delivered a passionate performance of Beethoven’s 4th piano concerto.

The second half of the concert was Carl Nielsen’s 4th Symphony.

Here a few excerpts from the critics:
”The nobility of Tétu's phrasing and Laurent Zufferey's elegant gestures are as compelling as the writing itself”
”When so many conductors (Rattle, Pappano, Davis...!) dry up the content, Laurent Zufferey defends an exhilarating conception, in which the lyricism is never exiled.”
